Description and Method
of Measurement |
Your Measurements
Use centimeters or inches. Give inches in fractions to the
nearest 1/8 inch. |
| 1. NECK |
Circumference |
|
| 2. BUST |
Circumference |
|
| 3. WAIST |
Circumference |
|
| 4. ABDOMEN |
Circumference of upper
hips. If the subject's abdomen circumference is more than her hip
circumference, use abdomen circumference also as the measurement
for the hip circumference. |
|
| 5. HIPS |
Circumference |
|
| 6. BUST SPAN |
Distance between bust
apexes (nipples). |
|
7. BUST HEIGHT |
Distance from center of
prominent bone in back of neck over shoulder to apex of one breast
(nipple).
This should be calculated by measuring from one bust apex
(nipple) up and around the neck and back down to the other
apex, then dividing that distance by two. |
|
8. WAIST HEIGHT |
Distance from center of
prominent bone in back of neck over shoulder to apex of one breast
(nipple) then down to lower edge of front waist marking. This should
be calculated by measuring from the waist line (starting directly
below one breast), up over the breast apex (nipple), around the
back of the neck, then back down the other side, over the other
breast apex and straight down to the front waist line. This measurement
should then be divided by two (see picture). Take this and bust
height measurements together in one step. |
|
| 9. BACK LENGTH |
Distance from center of
prominent bone in back of neck to lower edge of back waist marking. |
|
10. BACK WIDTH |
Hang your arms relaxed
at your sides. The measurement is taken from and to the point where
your upper arm meets your body (but not to armpit) about 10 cm below
base of neck. |
|
11. SHOULDER
LENGTH |
Neck to shoulder tip.
To find the shoulder tip, raise your arm to horizontal position
and feel where there is a hollow spot between shoulder and arm bones. |
|
12. ABDOMEN HEIGHT |
Vertical measurements
from lower edge of waist marking to point where abdomen circumference
is
maximum. |
|
| 13. HIP HEIGHT |
Vertical measurement from
lower edge of waist marking to point where hip circumference is
maximum |
|
| 14. BICEP |
Circumference of bicep
in horizontal position with elbow bent upward at 90 degree angle
to "make a
muscle". |
|
| 14A. ARM HOLE |
|
|
| 14B. FOREARM |
|
|
| 15. WRIST |
Circumference over wrist
bone |
|
| 16. ARM LENGTH |
Shoulder tip to wrist.
Bend arm slightly when measuring |
|
| 17. PANT OUTSEAM |
Outside pant length from
lower edge of waist elastic to pant cuff |
|
| 17A. WAIST TO KNEE |
|
|
18. CROTCH DEPTH |
Sit on bench or chair,
measure vertically from waist elastic to chair level at side. Crotch
depth can also be measured from a pair of old, well fitting pants,
crotch depth is the difference between outside and inside length
of pants. |
|
18A. WAIST FRONT TO BACK
(CROTCH) |
|
|
DESIRED CUFF
CIRCUMFERENCE* |
Not ankle circumference,
but the measurement that would determine the size of "bell
bottoms", "straight leg" or "skin tight"
pants. |
|
| DESIRED JACKET LENGTH*
|
Waist elastic to hem. |
|
DESIRED SKIRT/DRESS
LENGTH* |
Waist elastic to hem. |
